Funding and delivery
The donor community, since 1994 has chosen UNDP/PAPP as one of its most reliable implementation partners for development activities throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Funds contributed either by donors or from UNDP's own resources are grants that do not have to be repaid by the Palestinian Government. UNDP/PAPP operates under international rules of financial management, control and auditing, and as an international public institution, its operations are fully transparent.
Since its establishment, UNDP/PAPP has delivered over US$1.8 billion in development assistance to the Palestinian people and generated over 4.5 million workdays. In 2021, funding was provided from existing donors such as Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden and Norway, as well as new donors including the Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark, United Kingdom, and the UN Humanitarian Fund.
UNDP/PAPP continues to diversify and broaden its donor base by being actively engaged with traditional donors, and increasing partnerships with the private sector, foundations and International Financial Institutions, civil society organizations, national universities, technical and vocational institutions.
The number and diversity of donors contributing to UNDP programmes confirms the confidence of the national government, civil society, and the international and local community in our role as a partner of choice for sustainable development.
The following graphs show where our funding comes from and how it is spent. Sharing this information is part of UNDP’s commitment to transparency and accountability to our funders, partners, project participants and the public.
