UNDP Meets Deputy Prime Minister to Discuss Gaza Reconstruction

UNDP Special Representative, Frode Mauring, met with Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister Ziad Abu Amr in Gaza to discuss how UNDP and partners can support Gaza’s reconstruction and recovery to a liveable place.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Justice, H.E. Salim Al-Saqqa, Minister of Women's Affairs, H.E. Haifa Fahmi Hafes Aga, Minister of Labour, H.E. Maumoon Abdul Hadi Hassan Abu Shahla and Minister of Public Works and Housing H.E. Muhammad Salim Al-Hasania.

On 7 July 2014, the Israeli army launched a large military operation in the Gaza Strip having resulted in an unprecedented toll of human lives, the displacement of more than 400,000 people and large-scale destruction of social and economic infrastructure. UNDP’s response focuses on enhancing livelihoods and leading early recovery activities to alleviate the suffering of the Gaza population.
