Under the Auspices of H.E. Prime Minister Al Hamdallah - UNDP Launches Projects in Support of Area C and East Jerusalem With funding from Sweden, Austria, Norway and UK
In the presence of the H.E. Prime Minister Rami Al Hamdallah, and representatives of various missions and organizations, UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People marked the launch of 19 projects in Area C and East Jerusalem at the historic site of Maqam Nabi Musa in Jericho Governorate.

UNDP will provide legal aid services to over 40,000 Palestinians in Gaza who have suffered as a direct result of the 51-day Israeli Operation in July-August 2014. With a USD 530,000 investment, legal aid services will be provided to people who seek legal redress, including legal information, legal advice and mediation, legal and judicial representation, advocacy and policy analysis.

The Netherlands Signs Contribution Agreement to the UNDP/UN Women Joint Programme in Support of the Palestinian Rule of Law Sector
Demonstrating their steadfast support to the rule of law and community access to justice and security, the Government of the Netherlands and UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People signed, on behalf of the Multi Partner Trust Fund an USD 8.1 million contribution agreement covering a period of three years.

UNDP and UN Women sign a USD 29.5 million Agreement with the Palestinian Ministries of Justice and Interior
In a concerted effort to strengthen the rule of law and improve access to justice across the occupied Palestinian territory, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior, UN Women and UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People signed a USD 29.5 million agreement to support the establishment of a viable Palestinian state solidly based on the rule of law, human rights and justice.

The General Personnel Council (GPC), in cooperation with Al-Quds Open University and the United Nations Development Programme held a graduation ceremony for Palestinian civil servants who completed training courses in information technology. The main objective of the courses was to train 50 civil servants, 10 of whom were women, in Java, Linux and Oracle, as part of GPC’s efforts to develop a Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS) in cooperation with relevant ministries.

The High Judicial Council, EUPOL COPPS and UNDP Inaugurate Newly Refurbished Corruption Crimes Court in Ramallah
The Palestinian High Judicial Council and the United Nations Development Programme inaugurated the newly refurbished Corruption Crime Court in Ramallah on Tuesday 04 February 2014 in partnership with EUPOL COPPS and with funding from the Governments of Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands. The refurbishment of the Corruption Crimes Court (CCC) in the Ramallah Court Complex was undertaken through the UNDP/EUPOL COPPS Joint Programme on Strengthening Internal Police Accountability, National Anticorruption and Civilian Oversight.

Ministry of Planning with UNDP and UNHABITAT discuss with Donors Palestinian National Spatial Planning
The Ministry of Planning and Administrative Development in partnership with UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People and UNHABITAT organized a donor meeting on Monday 04 November 2013 to discuss the National Spatial Planning Programme and the additional resources needed for further implementation. The Programme aims at supporting the formulation of a National Spatial Plan (NSP) for the State of Palestine by providing a holistic guide to planning efforts in Area C, East Jerusalem, Gaza, and the rest of the West Bank.

H.E. President Mahmoud Abbas received today Mr Frode Mauring, UNDP Special Representative of the Administrator and accompanying delegation. At the meeting, the parties discussed the Palestinian development priorities and programmes in the coming years and UNDP’s role in supporting the execution of large projects in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza.

In the presence of Mr Michael Köhler, Director for Neighbourhood at the European Commission's DG DEVCO and UNDP Special Representative of the Administrator Mr Frode Mauring, the European Union and UNDP signed a contribution agreement worth €2.4 million in an effort to safeguard cultural heritage in the old city of Jerusalem. The programme will have a long term impact that will benefit different segments of the society by providing job opportunities and sustainable income for local professionals.

Palestinian Prime Minister and UNDP Sign a Partnership Agreement in Support of Area C and East Jerusalem
The programme, jointly implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and UNDP, will focus on health, education, housing, cultural heritage, energy, transportation, water and wastewater. The FAIR programme is a multi-donor platform which aims to empower and strengthen national institutions to plan and deliver essential public and social Infrastructure in ‘Area C’ and East Jerusalem through providing increased access to sustainable, equitable and affordable infrastructure.

The Ministry of National Economy and the United Nations Development Programme sign an Exchange of Letters funded by the Government of Japan
the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Palestinian Industrial Estate and Free Zone Authority (PIEFZA), in the presence of the Representative Office of Japan to the Palestinian Authority, signed an exchange of letters worth USD 884,513 for the construction of an electrical substation for the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park (JAIP). The project aims at providing electrical service to the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park in order to meet the demand of the tenants and feed all related public facilities.
