  • Brazil Ambassador Visits UNDP Projects in GazaJul 12, 2016Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the State of Palestine, H.E. Francisco Mauro Brazil De Holanada, accompanied by First Secretary of the Embassy Mr Ricardo Fleury visited the Gaza Strip on 12 July 2016. The purpose of the visit was to see first hand the situation in Gaza and some of the projects funded by the Federative Republic of Brazil.

  • Funded by the Government of Japan UNDP Concludes Emergency Support to Solid Waste Services Project in the Gaza StripApr 12, 2016The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Japan marked the closing of the emergency support to solid waste services project in the Gaza Strip, funded by the Government of Japan for a total of USD 4.3 million. The project, which is implemented in partnership with the Presidency’s Job Creation Programme (JCP), contributed to creating over 181,777 working days for more than 7,000 workers.

  • Table Tennis Championship and Tokyo Football League Underway in Gaza with Funds from the Government of JapanApr 12, 2016The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Japan kicked off the second stage of the Tokyo Football League and Table Tennis Championship in the Gaza Strip. Both activities are part of the “Support to Youth and the Sports Sector in the Gaza Strip” project funded by the Government of Japan for the amount of USD 153,430. The project aims at encouraging youth in Gaza, where many people have been affected by the continuous conflicts and even lost their hope for the future due to the long-standing siege.

  • Government of Japan, Palestinian Water Authority and UNDP celebrate the closing of the cross boundary wastewater management project in the West BankApr 11, 2016Under the auspices of H.E. Prime Minister Rami Al Hamdallah, the Government of Japan, in partnership with the Palestinian Water Authority and the United Nations Development Programme/Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People celebrated the closure of the USD 5.8 million cross boundary wastewater management project in the occupied Palestinian territory.

  • USD 4.3 million Funding from Japan to support projects in the Gaza Strip through UNDPMar 18, 2016As part of their continuous efforts to support the Palestinian people, the Government of Japan entrusted UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP) with a USD 4.3 million contribution targeting the Gaza Strip. The new contribution will address environmental sustainability and employment generation for youth in the Gaza Strip.

  • With funding from Sweden, Norway and Austria UNDP Signs Agreements in Support of East Jerusalem Youth and Health SectorsMar 17, 2016– With funding from the Governments of Sweden, Norway and Austria, UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People signed agreements, worth USD 1.27 million, in support of the resilience of Palestinians residing in East Jerusalem. The four projects target three hospitals (Makassed, Augusta Victoria and St John Eye hospital), in addition to the Welfare Association (Taawon).

  • With Funds from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UNDP and UNRWA Sign Agreement to Support House Rehabilitation in GazaMar 15, 2016As part of their continuous efforts to support the Palestinian people, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed a memorandum of understanding for the amount of USD 31.8 million, from the Saudi Fund for Development. The generous donation will cover house rehabilitation works in the Gaza Strip.

  • Funded by the Government of Japan UNDP kicks off Tokyo Football League in GazaMar 14, 2016UNDP, in partnership with the Palestine Football Association, kicked off the Tokyo Football League as part of their shared commitment to empowering youth in the Gaza Strip, which is a part of the “Support to Youth and the Sports Sector in the Gaza Strip” project funded by the Government of Japan for the amount of USD 153,430. The project was a commitment made by the Prime Minister of Japan, H.E. Shinzo Abe, when President Mahmoud Abbas visited Japan and met him last month.

  • Additional Euro 2 million from Austria in Support of Area C PopulationFeb 25, 2016Austria and UNDP signed a Euro 2 million contribution to the Community Resilience and Development Programme (CRDP) in support of the Palestinian population living in Area C. Led by the Palestinian Government, the CRDP is funded by the Governments of Sweden, Austria, and Norway and implemented by UNDP. The additional resources will bring the total donor contribution to the CRDP programme to over USD 19.7 million.

  • The Ministry of National Economy, Jericho Municipality, and UNDP Sign an Exchange of Letters for a Project Funded by the Government of JapanFeb 8, 2016The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Ministry of National Economy, and Jericho Municipality signed an exchange of letters related to an on-going project, worth USD 320,000, with the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy and Jericho Municipality to improve access to the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park (JAIP) in order to facilitate the movement of materials and products geared for export. The contribution from the Government of Japan is part of the Rapid Support for Small Infrastructure in the West Bank in support of the High Impact Micro Infrastructure Initiative (HIMII) projects (RSSI-HIMII), the implementation of which has already started.
