Women's Empowerment

From infrastructure projects, to support to women in decision-making positions, UNDP has an extensive portfolio of projects and programmes that have contributed to the empowerment of Palestinian women. UNDP supported the Palestinian Ministry of Women's Affairs through the provision of technical support, particularly in the area of strategic planning. At community level, specific focus is given to women and other socially marginalized groups.

Challenges

The gender assessment of UNDP’s programme and operations established a baseline for gender mainstreaming and provided recommendations to guide action in developing and implementing a comprehensive vision, strategy and programme for the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt). However, on-going conflict and the need for a humanitarian response creates a difficult working environment in which to advance the gender equality strategy in the oPt. more
