  • Construction of Ministry of Foreign Affairs BuildingConstruction of Ministry of Foreign Affairs BuildingThe Construction of the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building project is in line with Palestinian Strategic Plans which focus on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the government and strengthening public institutions through the reform of the public sector legislative framework, physical, organizational and institutional development and civil service management.

  • Support civil society in JerusalemSupport civil society in JerusalemThe programme goal is to sustain, maintain and develop the communities in Jerusalem to better deal with the adverse environment they live in. The programme contributes in establishing a new model that allows meaningful engagement with organizations to upgrade and enhance the quality and quantity of services provided and channel more International funds to the city.

  • Effective Palestinian InstitutionsEffective Palestinian InstitutionsThis project is part of UNDP’s Supporting Governance for Palestinian Statehood Programme which focuses on three principle areas to support governance for Statehood, namely, strengthen public institutions, foster civic engagement in national planning and policy processes, and strengthen national and international advocacy platforms for the State of Palestine. The ultimate goal is to strengthen Palestinian aspirations to achieve a functioning, accountable and independent State.

  • Support civil society and youthSupport civil society and youthThe project aims at promoting social accountability, which emerges through actions by citizens and civil society organization (CSOs), as well as efforts by government, media, private sector and other actors to support and respond to these actions. Youth will take the lead in monitoring municipal performance in the three selected pilot municipalities of Beit Fajjar, Jericho and Qalqylia in the West Bank, as well as Nusseirat municipality in the Gaza Strip.

Its objective is thus to empower local stakeholders, through the most suitable partners, to respond with resilience to threats that affect their sustenance on the land.

  • Strengthening the Rule of Law in the oPtStrengthening the Rule of Law in the oPtThe Joint Rule of Law Programme was launched on 01 May 2014 and works on both the ‘supply’ and ‘demand’ side of enforcing the rule of law. This means that it works on improving service delivery by building resilient justice and security institutions (‘supply’), whilst at the same time improving the public’s ability to access such services and hold duty-bearers to account (‘demand’).

OUR WORK - DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE

UNDP works extensively in this field primarily to develop institutions and processes that are not only reflective of the will of the people, but also responsive to the needs of ordinary citizens, particularly the poor. UNDP’s governance portfolio has worked to encourage the increased participation and inclusion of women in all branches of government. UNDP also places emphasis on local governance and public administration, in addion to private sector development..
