Funding and delivery
The donor community, since 1994 has chosen UNDP/PAPP as one of its most reliable implementation partners for development activities throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Funds contributed either by donors or from UNDP's own resources are grants that do not have to be repaid by the Palestinian Government. UNDP/PAPP operates under international rules of financial management, control and auditing, and as an international public institution, its operations are fully transparent.
The total donor contribution to the Palestinian People through UNDP/PAPP since its establishment was over USD 1.5 billion. UNDP/PAPP continues to diversify and broaden its donor base by being actively engaged in South-South cooperation agreements, including IBSA (India, Brazil and South Africa) and Bahrain, and increasing partnerships with the private sector, foundations and International Financial Institutions. In addition, UNDP/PAPP continues to maintain a strong partnership with its traditional donors who have provided a steady flow of funds over the past six years: Sweden, Canada, Japan, Norway, Germany, Netherlands, European Union, Italy and the United Kingdom.
In 2017, UNDP/PAPP delivered over USD 110 million in development assistance to the Palestinian People.
The number and diversity of donors contributing to UNDP programmes confirms the confidence of the national government and the international and local community in our role as a partner of choice for sustainable development.
